HODINKEE has teamed up with motoring lifestyle brand Autodromo to deliver their latest work, the Stelvio sunglasses. Completely handmade in Japan, they’re named after the famous alpine pass – one of the finest driving roads in Italy – with each pair requiring over 130 operations to build and a month to complete. They are laser etched with a serial number, and made of the highest quality amber acetate in the world, with polarized cognac lenses. Each pair comes with a quilted leather carrying case inspired by some of our favorite vintage Ferraris. Numbers are limited here as only fifty pairs will be made.
A.P.C. and Retrosuperfuture recently teamed up to make a few pieces that are all about quality and delivering them at the best possible price rather than over-the-top branding. The limited edition glasses are for both men and women, with the shell’s being composed of 100% Italian acetate with Carl Zeiss engineered lenses, and entirely hand-made in Italy.
All silhouettes were designed by A.P.C. to work back to the Spring / Summer ’13 collection and are available at A.P.C. stores and select retailers worldwide as well as A.P.C.’s online store.

From Linda Farrow Luxe comes these angular-frame sunglasses. Linda Farrow eyewear has been iconic over the years to say the least and the designer continues to deliver impeccably designed pieces. We initially reported on Thom Browne’s first ever eyewear collection which is set to release for the Fall 2011 season a while back and it seems a few select shops have already taken stock of the goods. The shots here were taken at Hong Kong’s Dita boutique and give us detailed looks with highlights of a few key pieces. We knew this collection would be phenomenal and from what we’re seeing, Thom Browne did not disappoint.
The collection will feature 20 unique styles that draw inspiration from the professors, artists, politicians and architects of the 1940s to 1960s and will be made from acetate, with specifically developed color combinations that will be complimented by genuine leather and metal mesh side cups as well marked with Browne’s signature red, white and blue logo stripe.
The goods can be had now at Dita in Hong Kong and other select retailers worldwide. More looks from the collection below.
From SUPER sunglasses come these limited edition “49er” frames for Fall/Winter 2011. The design is reminiscent of classic explorer sunglasses while the thin metal skeleton allow for a more modern and timeless design. The premium acetate covering gives it a sharp look and falls in line with the historic models from other brands. There are four colorways available now in limited numbers online and at select stockists but we aren’t even focusing on any of the others past the all-black frames shown above.
We’d like to turn you all to a new premium eyewear brand coming out of California. Shauns Shades delivers top quality frames that are designed in Cali but hand made in Italy utilizing the finest materials in the process like Carl Zeiss lenses. They’re very wearable and are limited in branding as it only features a Braille “S” logo at the tip of the left temple in SHAUNS SHADES signature green.
GANT Rugger’s dropped a line of sunglasses at a pretty affordable price tag. We had a chance to preview them last week at the Project Show in Vegas and have to say they’re really well made and come in some vibrant finishes. The shells are hand-made acetate and come in custom color combinations and are fitted with polarized lenses. At $125 a pop, you just can’t go wrong. They’re available now at Barneys, Scoop NYC, GANT.com and GANT store.
Warby Parker is definitely marking its ever-growing territory in the eyewear industry with some successful product and an affordable price-point to match. Plus, the guys done one pair of glasses to someone in need with each item purchased. Before this season, we hadn’t seen a pair of sunglasses from the brand that was made in-house. Here are five men’s sunwear frames that are sure to please, especially because they come in an array of colors and are available for under $100.
These Warby Parker sunglasses are available for pre-order now and will ship July 15.
