SUPER, known for their modern sunglass designs, have released their OPTICAL line, their first ever range of eyeglasses. They’ve essentially taken some of their top silhouettes and reworked them into eyeglasses, offering up some really diverse pieces. This introductory season we are launching the Basic, Ciccio, Flat Top Small, People, America, Paloma, giaguaro, 49er, Panama all of which have been chosen based on fit, size and weight. Their available in three different colorways — havana, black, and panama havana blonde — and are fitted with fine details of gold or silver metal and hardware.

From SUPER sunglasses come these limited edition “49er” frames for Fall/Winter 2011. The design is reminiscent of classic explorer sunglasses while the thin metal skeleton allow for a more modern and timeless design. The premium acetate covering gives it a sharp look and falls in line with the historic models from other brands. There are four colorways available now in limited numbers online and at select stockists but we aren’t even focusing on any of the others past the all-black frames shown above.

Here we’ve got looks at SUPER‘s S/S ’11 selection, which the Italian label says is their most complete collection to date. They’ve been experimenting with leather, metal, acetate, and the combination of them all and have defined and refined the results into one core and contemporary collection. (via highsnobiety)

Handmade in Italy, these frames from SUPER come in a basic wayfarer shape but feature a tortoise shell and temples that are partially gold metal to give a truly vintage appeal. The brown Zeiss lenses seal deal for us.

The Puma wayfarer frames from SUPER have beige and black spotting and are fitted with Zeiss lenses. The lenses come in a lighter shade so anyone awing at them will still be able to see past them. Like all SUPER shades, this pair too is handmade in Italy.

SUPER’s latest incarnation of their iconic flat top frame is blessed with an all italian leather shell. The black leather is ultimately kept extremely thin to maintain a sleek profile. The frames are further paired with Carl Zeiss lenses and maintain the signature SUPER branding inside the temple.

The fine folks at StyleCrave have given us a glimpse at Super’s latest creation — The RSF Bread and Butter Berlin Edition. “One of my top frame choices this year has got to be the Super RSF Bread & Butter Berlin Edition with straight top frames in a nice butterscotch shade. Clear lenses by Zeiss combine forces with that drool-worthy Italian construction and tortoiseshell effect. Mmmm… vintage-y, with 180 made and individual numbering.”

Only 180 of these hand-made beauties will ever see the light of day, each with individual numbering.

Last year, frame manufacturer Super collaborated with Barneys Co-Op New York to create a fabolous pair of sunglasses. Now, they’ve released Part 2 of the collaboration with a tortoise shell/wood grain finish. The frames are designed with intertwining metallic streaks combined with a Zeiss Gold 24k lens and of course is based on the Super Ciccio Style. The product is limited to 50 pieces and is available only at Barneys CO-OP in New York.
