New York designer Thom Browne presented his S/S 2014 collection during Paris Fashion Week over the weekend, bringing forth a militaristic theme. Models walked in Gestapo-style uniforms with colors ranging from navy and grey to red and black. Feminine makeup and styling is merged with masculine pieces and looks.
Once again, Thom Browne blessed the stage of Paris Fashion Week with a phenomenal collection. The heavy wools and tweeds are delivered in a range of patterns while the models wore the pieces in boxy cuts. The New York-based designer brought out stars, squares, and stripes to really make the offerings standout from seasons past. All-in-all, the suiting, as quirky as the presentation was, stood out the most as we expect the gray and midnight blue color palette to really be a push for Fall 2013.
WWD is reporting Thom Browne is gearing up to open his first store outside of the U.S. in mid-March of next year. Tokyo’s Minami-Aoyama district will be home to a 4,500-square-foot Japanese flagship store that will be in close proximity to the likes of Prada, Comme des Garcons, Undercover, and others. Not only with the split-level store have the brand’s men’s and women’s collections, but there will also be a special area for made-to-measure. Interior design firm Wonderwall is leading the charge here and we’re expecting great success as their past projects have included many high-end shops including Colette in Paris.
“We’re really excited about the store both as a way to boost an already strong business in Asia and as an image statement,” Browne said on Wednesday from Milan, where he was working on the Moncler Gamme Bleu collection to be shown in January.

We’ve already covered one varsity jacket from Thom Browne for the upcoming fall season but the New York designer’s unveiled another that’s just as enticing. The midnight blue shell cotton shell is fitted with grey textured leather sleeves and trimmings as well as Mr. Browne’s signature red, white and navy stripes at collar, cuffs and hem. Classic detailing such as gold press-stud buttons, welt pockets and eyelet air vents at arm pits seal the deal. Look for the signature logo tab at back collar on this American-made piece as well.
Here we have a look at New York designer Thom Browne’s Varsity Jacket for the upcoming F/W 2012 season. We’ve seen him do varsity jackets in the past but this is our personal favorite to date. The light brown tweed is so understated and works really well with the contrasting white sleeves and front pocket detailing. The ribbed collar and cuff are authentic and expected with signature red, white and blue stripes at the waist to make this a true Thom Browne piece. Look for it to be available through select retailers in the months ahead. Thom Browne’s Japanese outpost will have it for ¥142,800 JPY (~ $1,823 USD).
With Paris Fashion Week in full swing, Thom Browne put his S/S 2013 collection on display, giving us a strong lineup from the New York designer. Colorful madras and plaid prints adorned the sartorial offerings. The blazers were slightly shrunk while the shorts and trousers were quite fitted as well. Colorful suiting and outerwear was shown alongside Mr. Browne’s accessory pieces as well such as umbrellas and sunglasses.
New York designer Thom Browne continues his collaborative efforts with California-based eyewear manufacturer, Dita. The Spring 2012 offerings were inspired by architecture and machinery of the mid-20th century, giving us a variety of styles. Pieces are made from titanium, leather, 18k yellow and white gold, as well as zyl acetate with production taking place Japan. With the extreme that’s gone into each piece, it’s no surprise last season’s goods were so well-received. Expect the same thing this time around. Look for these to be available through the Thom Browne boutique in New York as well as select stockists worldwide including Restir.
From New York’s Thom Browne comes the Jersey Parka. It’s made from, you guessed it, jersey fabric but has the construction of a hooded parka. It features a button front closure and stripped left sleeve, while the iconic Thom Browne stripe can be seen going down the front closure for added detail.
We initially reported on Thom Browne’s first ever eyewear collection which is set to release for the Fall 2011 season a while back and it seems a few select shops have already taken stock of the goods. The shots here were taken at Hong Kong’s Dita boutique and give us detailed looks with highlights of a few key pieces. We knew this collection would be phenomenal and from what we’re seeing, Thom Browne did not disappoint.
The collection will feature 20 unique styles that draw inspiration from the professors, artists, politicians and architects of the 1940s to 1960s and will be made from acetate, with specifically developed color combinations that will be complimented by genuine leather and metal mesh side cups as well marked with Browne’s signature red, white and blue logo stripe.
The goods can be had now at Dita in Hong Kong and other select retailers worldwide. More looks from the collection below.
