Now in its sixth season, Barbour’s collaborative effort with Japanese designer Tokihito Yoshida brings another tremendous lineup. The Beacon Heritage “ToKiTo” collection adds technical details to Barbour’s longstanding aesthetics and appeal. “Yoshida sympathetically uses classic Barbour materials such as 6oz Sylkoil and Quilted Polyamide, as well as innovative fabrics such as Gore WINDSTOPPER to create modern, ergonomically crafted silhouettes, making the Beacon Heritage collection his own.”
For Spring 2012, the outerwear pieces to check out are the Spey Fishing Jacket which is made from Gore Windstopper Active Shell as well as the Mount Shirt, a completely new addition to the Barbour Tokito lineup. It comes in three materials: Waxed, Herringbone and Windstopper.
The product is now hitting stockists worldwide, with End Clothing already getting a few pieces.

Barbour and Tokihito Yoshida continue their fruitful collaboration into Fall 2011 with a plethora of pieces for the colder months. The Spey Fishing jacket is a new style that’s been added to the mix, one we think will be well-received by you all. The style’s got plenty of Barbour-infused detailing like the waxed shell and cord collar but gets the To Ki To touch with added functionality.

Here, we have a look at some of the product from Barbour Tokihito’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection. The shots from the lookbook really give us a good sense of what to expect from this tremendous collaboration. Amongst the styles available are the Spey Fishing jacket, the Shoreman Jackets in both wax and ventile by the original long Shoreman, the all-new Sports Jacket in both olive syloil wax and a 100% Shetlan wool tweed with laminated waterproof backing, and an updated version of the very popular Motor Bike Shirt in Barbour 6oz sylkoil wax with the classic Cardinal tartan lining.

From Woolrich’s collaborative series with Tokihito Yoshida comes this immensely detailed field blazer. The canvas construction makes this a great transitional piece while the fine details like the suede elbow patches and the removable suede throat storm flap really make this blazer an easy decision.

ACL drops great look at some of the S/S 2011 offerings from Tokihito Yoshida’s TO KI TO brand. You may be familiar with Tokihito’s Barbour Beacon Collection but it’s a guarantee his TO KI TO label is one of Japan’s most well-kept gems of recent seasons. MW tells us the label’s SS11 collection is fairly small as it features a few jackets, button-down shirts and some pants, but don’t be alarmed as each piece made gets much-welcomed attention to detail.
The pocket detailing on all of it is off the charts, which is what I think makes him such a good outerwear designer. Some of the pants and the shirts were really over the top, but I can see the genius is in there. It is all very Japanese, but I think when applied correctly (like in the case of Barbour) the results are pure gold.
Don’t expect to see TO KI TO available in the US just yet but it’s really only a matter of time before the brand breaks down the barrier and gains some attraction on this side of the ocean.

Available now at Opening Ceremony is Barbour’s collaboration with Japanese designer Tokihito Yoshida. Prior to starting his own brand, To Ki To, Tokihito designed for companies like Mens Bigi, Harolds Gear, and Blades Savile Row to name a few. The Beacon Brand Collection includes a waxed trench coat and bicycle, horse riding and driving jackets, and is inspired by Barbour’s extensive archive that dates back to 1908. Tokihito updated the classic styles with clever details that focus on utility and have a more streamline design.
Head to Opening Ceremony’s Manhattan store to grab one (or two or three) of the pieces but expect the lineup to hit the online store sometime this coming week.
