Victorinox has dropped thumb drives before but the Secure Pro drive is the first from the company that’s supposedly, “un-hackable”. Victorinox actually offered a £100,000 prize to a team of “professional hackers” if they could crack the drive during the company’s launch event and they failed miserably. So in a world filled with skilled underground IT professionals, how is it that this pro team wasn’t able to get the job done? Well, it’s probably the drive’s combination of AES256 technology and fingerprint security, which is paired with a self-destruct mechanism that irrevocably burns the CPU and memory chip if there’s any attempt to force the drive open.

The USB drive is available in the UK for capacities of 8GB to 32GB, with prices ranging from $75 to $270. No word on when they will be made available stateside. (via Realwire)

We’re not sure if average Joes like us or maybe some of you above average Joes out there will ever need an ultra-secure USB drive like the one IronKey is offering but we still think it deserves some attention. The company’s S200 packs 16GB of memory space and passes defense-grade FIPS 140-2, Level 3 validation. It’s tamper proof and can detect unauthorized attempts to access it. Plus, it’s got a remote wipe feature, so you can sleep peacefully at night.

Engadget hasn’t gotten news on a price yet, but we’re thinking with the security this thing is offering, it should be contracted to the US government or maybe the bloaks over at MI6.

Not only is GressoDesign’s Pandora Collection a sight to see, the USB drives featured might be the first luxe-end USBs that have useful high storage capacities. 200 year Old African Blackwood and 18k Gold make up the chassis of the black version as it’s blessed with a substantial 64 GB of capacity. The Pave Black Diamond USB key by Dunhill is the first usb drive made by a luxe designer that we might actually be able to use. With 8GB of storage and 272 diamonds, we don’t see any reason why this shouldn’t be on your Christmas list. Oh yeah, the price.
