Black Scale and Golden Bear have teamed up to make a few colorways of the Deluxe Varsity Jacket. Details are immense as the two-tone shells feature leather and wool paneling as well as snap-button closure, hip pockets, and internal pockets. Striped cuffs, collar and waistband add to the authenticity. The varsity jacket will come in green with red, orange with grey and black on black. Look for this limited edition collaboration to be available starting June 1 through Black Scale flagship stores as well as through their online store.

Hong Kong’s 11After11 has a baseball jacket coming that’s fitted with an aztec pattern that we really dig. The jacket features a wool shell with the pattern in black & white while the sleeves come in an off-white leather that blends in effortlessly. Look for this piece to be available in the months ahead.
From Montreal-based Raised by Wolves comes their Lunar Cycle Varsity Jacket for F/W ’12. Every year, it seems there’s always one standout varsity that catches everyone’s attention and we think this is 2012′s equivalent to GANT Rugger’s Homerun Jacket of 2010. The subtle and well-thought-out details on this one make it a must-have piece because we’re just not sure we’ll see one like it for quite sometime. It’s made in the good ol’ US of A by Ebbets Field Flannels and features felt appliqué patches and letterings. The melton wool body sits well with the leather sleeves while the interior of the body is Ripstop NyCo MultiCam lined.
MR. GENTLEMAN of Japan delivers their English Wool Stadium Jacket in a finish that’s damn near perfect. “Taking design cues from Takeshi “BIG-O” Osumi and Yuichi Yoshii, the jacket features 100% British wool in the body and soft leather on the arms which serves as a nice contrast to the beige torso section.” Look for this offering from MR. RRL’s latest batch of stock is looking pretty exceptional across the board but here’s a standout from the impressive lineup. The label’s Wool Sports Jacket takes inspiration from an old school varsity jacket from the 1930′s and comes in a herbal green finish. The branding is minimalistic while the details are quite immense The rugged wool-blend twill makes this a Fall season must cop, especially given the limited numbers produced.
Brooks Brothers has dropped a damn-near perfect varsity jacket for the fall. The brushed wool shell features slew of authentic detailing reminiscent of a throwback college varsity jacket. The Brooks navy body works really well with the contrasting leather sleeves, ribbed stripe mock neck collar, bottom hem, and pocket detailing. The jacket also features full quilted lining with two interior pockets.
We’ve already covered one varsity jacket from Thom Browne for the upcoming fall season but the New York designer’s unveiled another that’s just as enticing. The midnight blue shell cotton shell is fitted with grey textured leather sleeves and trimmings as well as Mr. Browne’s signature red, white and navy stripes at collar, cuffs and hem. Classic detailing such as gold press-stud buttons, welt pockets and eyelet air vents at arm pits seal the deal. Look for the signature logo tab at back collar on this American-made piece as well.
Here we have a look at New York designer Thom Browne’s Varsity Jacket for the upcoming F/W 2012 season. We’ve seen him do varsity jackets in the past but this is our personal favorite to date. The light brown tweed is so understated and works really well with the contrasting white sleeves and front pocket detailing. The ribbed collar and cuff are authentic and expected with signature red, white and blue stripes at the waist to make this a true Thom Browne piece. Look for it to be available through select retailers in the months ahead. Thom Browne’s Japanese outpost will have it for ¥142,800 JPY (~ $1,823 USD).
From Levi’s Made & Crafted comes this two tone leather varsity jacket which features a navy blue body with brown sleeves. The design’s as timeless as they come and the detailing is immense. The craftsmanship of Levi’s Made & Crafted stems from the origin of the majority of the line’s pieces, with this varsity jacket coming straight from Italy. The color combination is really epic as it will be a perfect go-to jacket throughout the winter and there’s no doubt it will last you for years to come.
The latest varsity jacket to hit the market comes from Japanese brand A Bathing Ape and Brooklyn-based Ebbets Field Flannels. Ebbets has been dropping some really authentic pieces over the years, most notable for their wool caps that are now sold at several legit retailers. This item doesn’t steer away from the brand’s vision as it’s got all the proper detailings of an authentic varsity jacket. The navy/red/cream colorway looks phenomenal as does the bold crest that’s featured on the back.
