Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg team up for “2 Guns.” Directed by Baltasar Kormákur, the duo play a DEA agent and an undercover Naval Intelligence officer who have been tasked with investigating one another find they have been set up by the mob — the very organization the two men believe they have been stealing money from. J.Crew, as part of their J.Crew on Film series, recently took a trip to one of the storied Italian mills that produces fabric for our Ludlow suit. The team traveled to Italy’s Vitale Barberis Canonico mill to learn how the intersection of family, tradition and passion creates a suiting fabric tailor-made for the J.Crew’s iconic Ludlow suit. The film highlights the American brand’s appreciation for design, quality, heritage, artistry and the people who bring their designs to life.

Brooklyn-based Ferris gives us a look at their Spring 2013 offerings through this short video. They commissioned famed model Hailey Clauson for this and the end result is definitely worth checking out. LVC hits the Levi’s Archives to reproduce garments from bygone eras. For Spring 2013, Levi’s Vintage Clothing pays tribute to the golden era of the American Hot Rod and the sharply dressed car owns and spectators who sported Levi’s. There are some must-have pieces throughout the lineup including a suede version of the classic military style bomber jacket worn by pilots in WWII. LVC’s rendition comes in navy blue, is medium weight, has a short regular fit, and plenty of fine detailing such sa ribbing on the collar, cuffs and bottom hem as well as contrast lining.

In addition to releasing the collection of Hot Rod-inspired Levi’s jeans and Sportswear, the Brand teamed up with Los Angeles-based filmmaker and curator Aaron Rose to make a short film about the origins of Hot Rod culture in Southern California back in the early 1950′s. Rose pulled from hundreds of hours of painstakingly researched archival footage ranging from old “juvenile delinquent” movies and Life Magazine drag-race films to home movies unearthed from personal collections. He dug deep in research and the result shows the effort. Rose delivers a striking and fast-paced film that captures the style and attitude of the uniquely American post-war subculture which continues to influence the worlds of fashion, music and mechanics to this day. To coincide with the release of the Men’s Spring 2013 collection, 3.1 Phillip Lim has dropped an exclusive short film featuring the undiscovered art of “Tricking.” A collaborative effort between 3.1 Phillip Lim and fashion photographer Jacob Sutton, the video showcases the Spring 2013 Men’s collection in flight, on real life battling ‘Trickers’ Jason Mello and Micah Karns. For those not familiar, Tricking is a combination of gymnastics, martial arts, and b-boying. The moves require several different disciplines such as taekwondo and kung fu and push the boundaries of creativity in what the physical body can do.

The collection itself pulls inspiration from Barroco and Nipo-Brasileiro sub-cultures and interprets traditional Baroque with a youthful perspective of luxury and artisanal value. Expect strong lines, playful textures and youthful elegance.
