Oh, you’re reading that right. Dov Charney-led American Apparel has bought Warriors of Radness. The capital that’s just been thrown behind WoR is tremendous and will surely expedite the growth of the SoCal label. There’s a two-minute clip below that has Rick Klotz of Warriors of Radness and a few of the other guys chatting it up alongside Dov. Definitely worth checking out.
Warrior of Radness is known for delivering all the proper beach essentials but they’ve gone season appropriate for the fall with knits, long-sleeve tees, heavier button-downs, jackets, sweats and a few other goods. Don’t worry, there are still tanks and tees available in case you’re fortunate enough to still be soaking in the sun.
Warriors of Radness delivers a capsule collection with Japan’s BEAMS, something we think bolsters the brand’s international appeal and shows the far reach of American fashion. The California Dreamin’ collection features a printed trunk style short, two photo print tees by Grant Rohloff, and two photo print tees by Anthony Friedkin. The Rohloff tees, “For Surfers Only” and “Surfin Wild” are inspired by two of the Rohloff’s surf films while the Friedkin tees are from the artist’s body of photographic work on the California coast.
All pieces are available exclusively at BEAMS stores throughout Japan.
California’s Marina del Rey neighborhood inspired the latest collection from Warriors of Radness. Some of our favorite pieces from the label are showcased here including nylon swim trunks in an array of finishes, broken-in graphic tees, outstanding tanks and well-fitting khakis.
Warriors of Radness had a tremendous 2010 and it seems they’ve picked up right where they left off this year. We’ve gotten the word about their collaboration with Opening Ceremony for a capsule collection entitled, “Beach Crew!”. The collection features gear for both men and women and ranges in product from tank tops and t-shirts to crewneck sweaters and more.
Warriors of Radness shows their surfer solidarity with the Teamster Hoodie. Made from cotton French terry, it features a full zipper, raglan sleeves, pouch pockets, and a garment washed finish. The WOR logo is direct printed on the chest and back with direct printing on each sleeve as well. It’s a great piece for early Saturday surfing at the beach or Sunday brunch with friends in the city.
From Warriors of Radness’ Fall 2010 lineup comes this lined wind warmer pullover in a two-tone finish. The relaxed fit is perfect for the colder months, so you can layer up and still be able to pop this piece on. it features two side pockets as well as a center pocket and is available in this luminous orange/off-white combination.
