Gear Patrol | Dinner with MB&F + Hodinkee & Friends

Gear Patrol | Dinner with MB&F + Hodinkee & Friends

Last week, I had the opportunity to join my good friends from Hodinkee, Gear Patrol, Forbes and a few other publications as well as a small group of Hodinkee loyalists for a dinner hosted by ‘dinkee and Stephen Hallock of MB&F. On display were ten horological machines from MB&F and were available to touch, feel and try on. We are now in a very small group of individuals that have been given such an opportunity to see these rare pieces in person, let alone ten of them at once. Much thanks to Ben Clymer at Hodinkee and the fine folks at MB&F for making this happen, it was truly an honor.

Mr. Yang of Gear Patrol went to work with his Fuji X100 and took some amazing shots, some of which we’ve highlighted below for your viewing. Enjoy!

Gergé M3 Titanium Mono-Pusher Chronograph

Gergé M3 Titanium Mono-Pusher Chronograph

The fine folks over at Hodinkee just turned us to this amazing chronograph watch from Gergé, made of a titanium shell. The Swiss watchmaker is fairly new to the game but they’re getting things started on a positive note, with their M3 mono-pusher and a slew of other well-made timepieces. This beauty features a COSC certified automatic movement, Côtes de Genève dial, but we’re most excited about the fact that this mono-pusher chronograph is not based on a Valjoux 7750.

The Want | Seagull 1963 Chronograph

King of the blogosphere Michael Williams turns us to this gem he recently came across during his last trip to Vegas. It’s supposedly a reproduction Chinese pilot’s watch from the ’60s and the detailing is really worth checking out. Notice the Chinese Star as well as the other markings on the dial. There were roughly 1,400 watches made exclusively for the Chinese Air Force. It’s got an automatic movement with a 40 hour power reserve, is made in China and comes with a steel back but add $35 for a crystal back.
