Happy New Year from Por Homme

Happy New Year from Por Homme

From the entire Por Homme team, we wanted to wish you all a very happy new year. 2012 is finally here and we ran through another year rather quickly. We delivered over 1,300 articles in 2011 and we hope they’ve been as entertaining as they have been informative. We saw over one million readers stop in at Por Homme and check out the content and we’re grateful for each and every one of you. It’s a new year but we’re driven by the same passion. We’re already hard at work to see how we can enhance your experience. Expect even more rich content with even greater access. More on specific upgrades in the weeks ahead.

Thanks again for stopping by and as always, I encourage you all to get in touch with any questions, comments or concerns! Happy 2012, folks!

Introducing | Por Homme v3

Introducing | Por Homme v3

Hope everyone’s having a great Labor Day. I’m really excited to officially unveil to you the third iteration of PorHomme.com. In the past, our primary focus has been to deliver outstanding content and we’d like to think that we did a pretty decent job in doing that. From a design-point however, I have always felt that there was something missing. Por Homme v3 looks to solve this and I hope you all dig it as much as we do.

I worked closely with Georgia-based Matt Yow on the logo design. I had a vision for it and he brought it to reality. His work is a testament to his creativity and dedication. Shout outs to him for all his help.

There are some key things to note in PH v3, so allow me to briefly run through those. The top navigation bar keeps things organized, and gives you access to all the key pages of the site in a pretty efficient manner. Navigation by category is still here but it’s been tucked under the “Category” drop-down. On the same bar, look to the right and you can hit the RSS logo or mail envelope to subscribe to our feed via reader or email. Other ways to connect with us are via Twitter, Facebook or Technorati, all of which are located atop the sidebar with their respective logos. If you haven’t already, definitely join the PH community, we’d really appreciate your support.

People love sharing our content and so we’ve kept the ability to share via Twitter and also added a Short URL option in case you’d like to shoot it out via another medium. The short URL is by bit.ly and tied in to our bit.ly account so you can share with some peace of mind. People will question me for removing the FB “Like” links and the Fanbox. To keep the site running smooth and look as seamless as possible, something had to go. Did anyone else think those links were a bit tacky?

We wanted to deliver our content in a more refined package and I hope PH v3 will make reading and sharing our news simpler and a bit easier on the eyes. If you’ve got any suggestions or just wanted to say hi, get in touch. Thank you again for your continued support!

A Word from the Editor

A Word from the Editor

Normally, I try to refrain from inserting any personal tidbits here but we’ve just hit 2,000 posts and I wouldn’t get much sleep if I didn’t take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support. I started Por Homme in mid-2008 with very little direction and now 2,000 posts later, I’m proud to say we’re really pleased with the stories we’ve covered and the feedback we’ve gotten. I think the site’s really come of age, with content all of our readers can enjoy from a point of view that’s as knowledgeable as it is appealing.

We’ve got a lot going on in 2010. We’re hoping to do a bit more traveling, so we can get some in depth reporting on some of the most sought-after labels and pieces this side of the pond. Also, we’ve enjoyed covering some new labels and retailers that have hit the scene and we encourage everyone to reach out to us so that more labels can get the recognition they deserve.

Also, I just want to thank our advertisers for their support and backing as well as our hosting company, Media Temple. From the moment I launched this site ’til now, their support team has been nothing short of flawless. We’ve had content management, uploading, and plenty of other issues and their team has always found the solution. The fact that they’re support line is open 24/7 also helps and gives us a piece of mind other companies just flat out can’t.

Just a few days ago, we dug into the design of the site to give it some much-welcomed life and I hope you’re all pleased. I wanted to make sure we didn’t take away from the familiarity you all have to the navigation, so the skeleton’s remained the same, just a few aesthetic changes were made here and there. Hope all the upgrades we’ve made are well-received.

Interact with us, whether it’s through Twitter, Facebook or email, I’d personally love to hear from you, because I don’t think we could’ve made it this far without the support and feedback of our readers. Thank you once again for reading and I hope to hear from all of you in the future. Stick around.
