Here we have the Introduction Campaign Video for Saint Laurent, the new identity of the infamous Yves Saint Laurent fashion house. With Hedi Slimane now at the helm, the video unveils more looks from the forthcoming collection. The men and women lines are presented throughout the imagery, giving us a sense of what to expect from the future of the French label.
For the past decade, Stefano Pilati has been the creative director for Yves Saint Laurent, one of the world’s most historically-rich brands in the history of fashion. He’s worked alongside Tom Ford before his departure from YSL and with Miuccia Prada during his time at Prada and Miu Miu. The Milan-born designer has influenced a generation with his work. In this interview with Vice Magazine, he talks the current state of fashion and its future. Some excerpts can be found below.
To showcase their S/S ’11 sneaker collection, the folks at YSL have dropped this video which features several of the brand’s key footwear styles for spring. This short film’s shot in black and white and looks too play off the athletic heritage of the sneaker. The image above captures the Malibu high top sneaker in all white, one of our personal favorites.
Yves Saint Laurent‘s Spring 2011 eyewear collection’s presented here in black and white video. The visuals are captivating when coupled with the suspenseful music. The product itself is looking promising for both men and women. The shots were directed by photographer Karim Sadli.
YSL creative director Stefano Pilati is collaborating with Puma to bring us two new pairs of high-tops, with design by Pilati and technical iterations courtesy of the sneaker company. Although prices haven’t been released yet, we don’t expect them to be in our price range (I will say that I have a high-top sneaker fetish), but that’s never stopped us before. Last week, we brought light to YSL’s S/S 2009 menswear collection that took masculine pieces like trenches and suits and fitted them with unstructured fabrics like silk to bring a new dimension to this year’s line. Stefano Pilati’s “Edition Unisex” shows YSL once again pushing the boundaries of traditional gender paradigms in fashion and challenging contemporary notions of sex and sexuality.
YSL opened a temporary space in downtown Manhattan for a little under two weeks this month, where clients had the opportunity to peruse the new range.

Stefano Pilati’s used women’s fabrics to construct the Spring/Summer ’09 collection for Yves Saint Laurent, blessing us with the most soft, sinuous, unstructured pieces of our time. Silk in suits? Only a creative mind like Stefano can achieve such technical feats of construction, all while keeping the styles and cuts masucline.
