From Gary Shove and Patrick Potter comes 42 x 12: The Cult of Fixed. The fixed gear bicycle is a simple machine and drones of riders have discovered the joy of the “fixie”. The 42 x 12 in the title refers to a gear ratio, but this book doesn’t discuss equipment. Instead, it attempts to, “Get under the skin of riders risking life and limb in pursuit of their passion.”
Some of the features within 42 x 12 include The Tweed Run, messenger and alley cat racing, indoor and keirin racing, It’s definitely a recommended read but if you’re still not convinced, check out a few shots from the book after the jump.
