Bleu de Paname’s Spring 2011 will begin to land at stockists in the coming weeks and here we have a good look at their offerings for the warmer months ahead. Dubbed the “Apache” collection, the thematic collection gives reference to the clothing style gang of Paris from the Belle Epoque era.

In 1902, two journalists in Paris, Arthur Dupin and Victor Morris, starts calling “les Apaches” the petty criminals and thugs of the Rue de Lappe and pimps of Belleville, which differ from the underworld and criminals by their style appearances. Originating from the upper districts of eastern Paris,as Ménilmuche (Ménilmontant) or Belleville, they invest at night the Bastille district or Mouff (Mouffetard’s street). The Apaches travel in groups, with accoutrements that enable them stand out: semi-open jacket over a rumpled shirt, pants tall concealing a 22’s blade, scarf and cap screwed over a shaved neck.

Bleu de Paname looks to supplement these historic references with top-notch material and modern detailing. Look for hints of materials such as moleskin, denim, chambray, twill and gabardine throughout the collection. (slamxhype)
